We are so lucky to have this much talent under one roof! Studio Cloud 30 is once again very proud to announce the release of “Take Me Out Dancing” by our very own Taylor-Rae.
What was your inspiration behind Take Me Out Dancing? How long did you work on this song for?
If anyone knows me, they know I like to get down on the dance floor on country night. This song honestly just kind of happened. My favourite music to dance to is the country classics and what better way to make a country dance song than referencing some of those artists I got to grow up with! I also have to send a major shout out to my band ‘The Backseat Drivers” for putting their wicked twist on it.
What advice would you give to other young artists trying to break into the music industry?
Some of the top advice I would give to other artists would be to take in everything people, already doing well in the industry, have to offer. Watch what strategies they use when it comes to marketing new music and building a platform. throughout this experience I’ve learned that there is no cookie cutter way to go about being in this business, you really just have to gauge what you think is the best route for you to take. Something that works so well for one artist may not work for the next and it is about realizing where your strengths are and playing off of that!
Who or what has helped you grow as an artist?
Growing up my major influence was my family, especially my dad. Singing the old classic country hits with him on our karaoke machine has made up some of my greatest childhood memories. After listening to me sing ‘The Lion Sleeps Tonight’ over and over, both my mom and dad decided they didn’t hate the sound of my voice, so we went from there and they’ve supported me every step of the way.
Being a part of SC30 has given me the opportunity to witness first hand the ins and outs of the music industry. I consider myself very lucky to be apart of the team and to be surrounded by so many talented artists daily.
What has been your biggest challenge?
The biggest challenge I’ve found has been to stay confident in my direction. It’s a business where nothing is set in stone. You never know if you’re making the right move, releasing the right song or even if the sound that you’re creating is what people want to hear. Music is so subjective and what I’ve learned is that no one knows who you are as an artist better than yourself. I know it sounds cheesy, but you really have to believe your own vision.
Do you have more songs in the works?
I’m actually really excited to share this with you! I’ve been in the studio recently and we’ve just wrapped up recording my debut album ‘Backseat Driver’ set to release early 2019!
