This week we would like to pleasantly introduce you to… Katrina!
I’ve always been in love with singing. I wanted to take it further: learning proper skills, sharing music with others, and becoming an artist. I like the fact that Studio Cloud 30 is more of an artist development studio than just a place where they teach you vocal skills. From the style of teaching, to the style of the actual studio itself, there’s something in there that simply interested me.
How did you become involved with music? When did you start singing?
It all started in my bathroom. Yes, my bathroom. It’s where I’d have my little “concerts” since I was around 10 years old. I didn’t really do any actual singing until I was in high school where I realized I should take this passions to the next level so, I started writing songs and learning how to sing.
Do you have a musical inspiration?
I’m very much influenced by jazz, rock, or any oldies from the 50’s to the 70’s. They fascinate me in a very special way and I feel connected to them. One of my favourite songs of all times is “Georgia On My Mind” by Ray Charles. I love the way the violin, the piano, and the voice just melt together so beautifully. There’s something unexplainable about that genre of music that just softens my heart every time I hear it.
I’m very out of date with current music because I don’t really listen to it, but, I listen to Lana Del Rey because I like the fact that her music is so majestic and mysterious and it is different from everyone else.
What’s been your most memorable music related experience?
I will never forget that moment when people were clapping and cheering for me after I performed in front of a crowd of 600 at a talent show. It was nerve wracking to be on that stage, but nothing feels better than that.
What do you like to do other than music?
It will have to be cooking and baking. Especially, baking.
FUN FACT: She can’t curl her tongue the typical way. She curls it sideways!
