Client of the Week: DYLAN YUNG

Once again, we are back with our Client Corner! This week we are featuring Dylan!

What has your experience been like at Studio Cloud 30?
It has been great. I love Kristen, she’s an amazing coach, and I love the chemistry we have when we song write. I always have so much fun working with her and she always seems to know exactly what I need in a song.

How did you get into music?

I’m part of a musical family. Everyone in my family plays an instrument and some of them have gone on to do some big things in music, so I initially avoided music when I was young to not band wagon, but I saw an interview by Sam Smith saying that music is like therapy and you can express yourself honestly, which I’ve always wanted to do, I’ve always wanted to share my artistic perspective as accurately as I can to others and I think music is a good means for that.

What’s a cool thing you’ve learned in the past couple weeks?

That I’m a baritenor! I thought initially I was a bass-baritone, cause my voice can hit some really low notes and my speaking voice is low, which was kind of a bummer cause a lot of artists I like, sing at a higher tone, but the more I practice singing I find my voice type is a baritenor, which is great because I can have the best of both worlds in terms of my musical inspirations.

Who’s your musical inspiration? Why?

I love Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Elvis Presley, Nat King Cole for their nice smoothness and they have a nice manly quality. I love Sam Smith for higher notes and mixed voice and I think he conveys sadness really well. Bruno Mars, James Brown, Turrell and Michael Jackson for higher, more soulful sounds(I grew up on funk). I’ve been into rock a lot recently too, like AC/DC and Bon Jovi cause they have cool voice distortion. Then I can’t forget the ladies, I’m a huge fan of Ella Fitzgerald (who isn’t?), Janelle Monae, I really like Tori Kelly currently, Lauryn Hill, Lana Del Rey and Aretha Franklin. The list could go on and on.

Anything else you like doing other than music?

I breakdance competitively representing The Wizardz crew from Vancouver, BC. I also compete in ballroom as well for Broadway Ballroom.

FUN FACT: He has OCD in a weird way. Although Dylan likes to keep organized with his things in order of size, he can’t stand having his bed made!
